Visitors to the Scripps Ranch Farmer’s Market are likely to chance upon a new taste sensation at the Cakies Creations booth.

“Our product is a cute, little cupcake-looking item,” said Nicholas Pryor, who was staffing the booth on a recent Saturday morning. “They are a mix of a cupcake, a cookie and a brownie all thrown into one.”

Cakies come in seven flavors: chocolate chip brownie, mint brownie, cookies and cream brownie, red velvet cupcake, peanut butter brownie, turtle brownie and s’mores brownie.

“Most of them tend to have the texture of a brownie,” Nicholas explained. “There are a few that lean a little bit more toward the cupcake side, which would be the chocolate chip and the red velvet, as far as texture goes.”

These tasty creations come artfully packaged in clear plastic containers with a domed cover so none of the frostings or toppings are disturbed.

“Each flavor has a little something different on it,” Nicholas said. “There’s three different flavors that have frosting toppings. The others are non-frosting varieties which have different things from chocolate covered peanuts to caramel turtles to Oreo cookies to even a big, fat marshmallow on top of the s’mores flavor.”

Cakies Creations started around August 2017 when Nicholas and his two sisters, Briana and CJ Pryor, decided to start their small business. They sell their treats at farmer’s markets as well as online.

“My two sisters are culinary experts. You should see our Thanksgivings. We just have too much food,” Nicholas said. “They like to experiment with a lot of different things. Quite a few years ago, they were playing around with desserts and they just kind of started mixing a bunch of things and came up with this cookie-cupcake-brownie combo that they started making flavors for, and the rest is history.”

Cakies are priced at $3 for a single treat, $8 for a pack of three, $15 for a pack of six and $29 for a pack of 12.

The company offers catering, and orders may also be placed online at CakiesCreations.com. There is minimum order of one pack of 12 for those ordering online. Orders can be picked up in Escondido, where the owners reside, or they can be delivered for an additional fee.

“They are very pretty, so they are a great presentation,” Nicholas stated, adding that the creations are good for birthday parties, anniversaries or any event in which treats would be a big hit.

The Scripps Ranch Farmer’s Market is open for shoppers from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. every single Saturday at 10380 Spring Canyon Road, in the Innovations Academy parking lot. Visit srfm.org.
