Garden tour leads off the spring season
By Denise Stewart
The March meeting of the Scripps-Mesa Garden Club’s featured a tour of a member’s unique garden right here on the Ranch. The host gardener described it as “The Mediterranean meets the tropics.”
The front garden has palms, grasses, yellow monkey flowers and mounds of spreading yellow cassia. The backyard is DG base with kangaroo paws, jasmine vines, hibiscus, a water feature, raised vegetable and herb bed, and dwarf citrus. There was even more to see on the side yards.
A short business meeting and refreshments followed the tour.
Coming up in April the group will meet at the Community Room at the Scripps Miramar Ranch Library
at 6 p.m. The topic will be snakes and how to rid your garden of them and other pests. Patrick Brady, the Snake Man from Poway, will share his experience with the critters and how to stay safe.
The Garden Club has a website that features advice to hobbyists and newsletters that will provide you with more information about the club and its doings: scrippsmesagardenclub.com.
