Gardeners focus on fire-safe landscape

Master Gardener and fire-safe landscape advisor Cindy Brueks will be the featured speaker at the March 25 meeting of the Scripps-Mesa Garden Club. Starting at 6 p.m., in the Community Room of the Scripps Miramar Ranch Library, Cindy will share her knowledge of drought tolerant plants that make for an attractive yard while easing current concerns about protecting our homes from the ravages of wildfires. Her presentation will be followed by a question-and-answer session.

Our local garden club has been meeting regularly since 1993 and gathers monthly for learning experiences indoors during the cooler, darker evenings, but moves outside in the warmer weather. Garden tours and other outdoor events will be coming up as the spring evenings lengthen.

The Garden Club has modest dues of $30 for the year. A website sharing club information and local gardening features is available at scripps-mesagardenclub.com.
