Grace’s Book Nook to reopen

Grace’s Book Nook, the used bookstore in the Scripps Miramar Ranch Library, is expected to reopen by the last week of May, to the delight of customers and the volunteer team alike. Just in time to satisfy the summer reading needs of all ages, the Book Nook – open Mondays through Saturdays during the library hours – is the perfect place to find books for bedtime stories, travel, the beach and more, all at amazing bargain prices.
Expect to use a detour route through the library to reach the Book Nook while the ongoing construction project impacts yet another area of the library. The next second Saturday pop-up book sale is planned on June 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will feature an expanded shopping area and selection of books. Data Safety Workshop
The Scripps Miramar Ranch Library will host a special developing data safety education program for adults and teens on Saturday, June 21, at 1 p.m. Presented by the Data Science Alliance, this workshop is designed to help people of all ages better understand how to safely and responsibly navigate the digital world. Topics covered include, but are not limited to, protecting private information, what motivates a scammer, types of online scams (from phishing to doxing) and identity theft, how to identify fake online stores, being aware of the posts they share and tips for navigating the internet safely. Light refreshments will be served.
Library construction
The long awaited fire suppression system replacement project at the Scripps Miramar Ranch Library is underway. The third phase, which is expected to continue through June, has blocked access to the entire adult fiction area and the DVDs. Work in the library’s two larger meeting rooms – the Community Room and Seminar Room – as well as in Grace’s Book Nook was expected to be completed by May 23, following which these spaces will reopen for use. Some upgraded AV equipment has been installed in both meeting rooms.
