Speakers address local Interests

At our Kiwanis meetings, we often feature speakers from organizations of interest to our neighborhood. At our Feb. 18 meeting, we were pleased to welcome San Diego pet expert Babs Fry who talked to us about her work with A Way Home for Dogs. Babs has become a local legend for finding lost pets in our community. She gave us great tips on actions that typically work and don’t work if you find that your pet is missing. Thanks to Babs for all that you do for our four-legged friends in Scripps Ranch!

At our March 4 Kiwanis club meeting, we were honored to receive a visit from Scripps Ranch High School Principal Matt Lawson who gave a great presentation on happenings around the school. We were pleased to hear updates on their impressive scholastic achievements and the range of special programs available to students to enrich their high school experiences and prepare them for life ahead.

Kiwanis supports Ragnar Road

On April 11, Kiwanis will take part in the fun-filled world of Ragnar racing!  We will once again work the Carmel Mountain Ranch station at the popular Ragnar Road SoCal Relay Race that goes from San Diego to Huntington Beach. We’ll be providing hydration and lots of cheers to runners as they come by our station. Proceeds from this annual event will be used to fund upcoming club projects around our county.

The Kiwanis Club of Scripps Ranch is an active group of local volunteers who support the needs of kids and our community. We meet at 5:30 p.m. on the first and third Tuesday of each month at the Whispering Ridge clubhouse at 12465 Oakfort Court.

At our next meeting on April 1, we will feature an accomplished San Diego sailor, who will speak with us about preparing for and winning the Transpac Race. The public is welcome to join us.
