Lipstick that stays put

Tanya Mercado is an independent distributor for SeneGence, specializing in LipSense lip color products. She knows at least one thing for sure: women want their lipstick to stay on their lips.

“Women love their lipstick to stay on for hours,” she explained. “They don’t want it on their chin. They don’t want it on their teeth. … They want it on their lips and that’s about it.

Mercado’s business, Picture Perfect Beauty by Tanya, has a presence in the Scripps Ranch Farmer’s Market each week. Stop by her booth to chat and you’ll find that she is an expert on lipstick and she is sold on LipSense.

“I love that it doesn’t come off. It doesn’t transfer onto my food. It doesn’t transfer onto my kids when I kiss them,” she said. “It’s a long-lasting lip color that lasts anywhere from four to 18 hours. It’s water-proof, it’s kiss-proof, it’s smudge-proof.”

Mercado said the most popular LipSense color is “Bella,” which she described as a brown-mauve.

“It is a very everyday color and everybody loves this color,” she said.

LipSense products are wax-free, are not tested on animals and are not made with animal by-products. They are made using naturally reoccurring ingredients and are formulated with FDA approved ingredients, according to the company website.

A line of other cosmetics and skin care is also available, Mercado said.

“We have everything. Like the lipstick, the cosmetics stay on,” she said.

Mercado said she has been selling the products for about a year and a half. She credits her sister with getting her involved.

Oddly enough, the two were each running their own photography businesses and began competing with one another, setting off a rivalry that began tearing them apart. Fortunately, her sister, Jessica Fajardo, began distributing SeneGence products with her own business called Glisten Up.

“She got into selling lipstick and got me into it as well, and we have been inseparable ever sense,” Mercado said. “There’s something about it.”

Mercado said working as a distributor brought she and her sister closer together, as well as their family.

Now, Mercado enjoys revealing the wonders of LipSense colors to other women.

“Every woman needs LipSense in their life,” she said. “It doesn’t come off. You’ll thank me.”
