Music Showcase highlights local bands

The Scripps Ranch Symphony in the Park concert series showcased three local bands that rocked Hoyt Park on Sunday, Aug. 12.

The band called Wolff went on at 5:30 p.m., overcoming some technical audio challenges to entertain an appreciative audience. As advertised, the band played rock ’n’ roll songs from “both sides of the pond.”

After Wolff finished up, players and coaches on the Scripps Ranch Little League Intermediate All-Star team that went all the way to the Little League Intermediate World Series, representing the entire western United States, was recognized for their accomplishments this summer.

The next band was Breezn – San Diego’s Variety Band, performing a wide variety of songs. To close out the night, the band High Tide Society brought its form of “yacht rock” to the Hoyt Park concert stage, playing dance music from all different eras.

The next free concert in the Scripps Ranch Symphony in the Park series will highlight Back to the Garden featuring Eve Selis at 6 p.m. on Sept. 9. Visit symphonyinthepark.org.
