Cases rise in 92131
The number of persons testing positive with COVID-19 has risen from four to six in the Scripps Ranch 92131 ZIP Code area, according to information provided by the County of San Diego, updated March 4. Cases in Mira Mesa are now at 22, and 13 cases in Poway.
Cover your mouth
San Diego County has asked all residents to cover their nose and mouth when leaving home for essential activities, such as grocery shopping, getting gas, visiting convenience stores or pharmacies. As of Saturday morning, all employees of essential businesses are required to wear a facial covering at supermarkets, grocery stores, gas stations, convenience stores, restaurants and pharmacies. Law enforcement agencies are now making sure that people who are in public are conducting essential activities. People who disobey the essential business guideline or who are in groups in public are subject to a misdemeanor ticket. Penalties can be up to a $1,000 fine and six months in jail.

Must be a joke
The above image appeared on a Facebook scale model hobby page last week. The post depicting a box with artwork of a plastic scale model kit of the microscopic COVID-19 coronavirus is convincing and looks like a bad attempt by a model company to quickly produce a replica of the virus threatening the world. It appears to be a hoax – whether in bad taste or not – because the post is no longer online and a search for the model brings up nothing. In addition, the name of the well-known scale model company is misspelled as Revelle instead of the correct spelling Revell. The concept is actually not surprising because the scale model industry has produced some pretty crazy kits – accurate or not – including a line of medical and anatomy model kits. Furthermore, the description on the box in several languages is highly detailed – including the claim that it even has a magnetic base.
