Coffee and Creamer at the Farmer’s Market
Visitors to this Saturday’s Scripps Ranch Farmer’s Market can enjoy a free dose of Coffee and Creamer, the audible kind.
Coffee and Creamer is a musical duo that will perform live music and provide karaoke at this weekend’s market. The group consists of Vee Reonal, lead singer and karaoke host, and Jon Sherman, the guitar player who also produces their music.
“We come from many miles away from each other,” Sherman explained. “She’s from the Philippines and I’m from Ohio.”
The two are not only a musical duo but also a couple that lives together in Mira Mesa. They have been together as a band nearly three years now. The two met in National City where Reonal was hosting karaoke one night.
“He came in like he owns the place. ‘Who the heck is that?’ (she wondered). So, he sits in the corner and then I come over to him with a (song) book,” Reonal said. “‘Do you want to sing?’ So we introduce each other. Believe it or not, since that night, the very first night we met, he’s never stopped coming there.”
This love story quite possibly influences their choice in the music they perform.
“We play love songs, nothing but love songs,” Sherman said. “All different genres.”
Reonal added that they also play a few country songs as well.
Both Reonal and Sherman write original songs. Their newest song is called “Stay With Me Awhile.”
“Vee writes most of the music and I play most of the music,” Sherman said, adding that he also sings occasionally.
The two are available for all kinds of events such as private parties and corporate parties.
Besides hosting karaoke, Reonal sings for the elderly at a couple of convalescent/rest homes each month.
At the Scripps Ranch Farmer’s Market, expect this duo to start off with a live set, then encourage visitors to sing their favorite songs for karaoke.
“We offer any song that you would want to sing in karaoke,” Sherman said.
“Our song book is so big, we can’t have a song book because it’s 5,000 pages long.” He joked.
