Cub Scouts Pack 1216 Holds Open House
Cub Scouts Pack 1216, which meets at Miramar Ranch Elementary School (MRE), will have its annual Spring Open House on Wednesday, May 16 at 6:30 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room at MRE. Interested Miramar Ranch Elementary School students and their parents are invited. There will be a lot of fun stations for the whole family to enjoy. Learn about Scouting and have fun.
Cub Scouts is for grades Kinder through fifth (all those in elementary school). The 2018-2019 kindergarteners can be part of the pack’s first ever Lion Den. In the past, Scouting started at first grade, but it has since opened up to kinders.
Another exciting change that has come to Scouting is that girls are now invited to join. The goal is to make Scouts a family-oriented organization that promotes outdoor adventure, physical and mental strength, and overall confidence in youth.
Pack 1216 camps, hikes, fishes, bikes, learns about the world around us, builds awesome things, races cars, does STEAM-type projects, earns Cyber Chips and has a great time. Children do enough sitting all day — get them outside for a unique experience.
The best part is that you can do both Scouting and sports. A lot of parents feel their kids can’t do anything else with their sports schedule; however, Scouting has Pack meetings only once per month on Wednesday evenings, and age group Den meetings only once per month and often on a Sunday afternoon. Additionally, all the monthly Pack 1216 adventures and outings are optional. Scouts is what you make of it — do as much or as little as you want. Pack leaders try to plan most of the events late on Sundays, so as not to interfere with sports games and after school activities.
Furthermore, Scouts is affordable — approximately $75 per year. For further information about Scouting, email Pack 1216 at email@example.com. CubMasters are Salvatore and Kathryn Crivello.
