Falcons Homecoming set for this weekend
Scripps Ranch High School (SRHS) will celebrate Homecoming this week with a televised pep rally, traditional football game and dance.
First of all, SRHS freshman, sophomore, junior and senior classes will each have a chance to a build a Homecoming float. Float construction will take place on Thursday, Sept. 7 from 2:30 to 8 p.m. in the ROTC area. Students must have a signed permission slip to participate in the float building.
On Friday, Sept. 8, festivities will begin early in the morning as the Falcons welcome KUSI TV to the campus for the “Prep Pigskin Report Pep Rally” at 6:40 a.m. in the school’s gymnasium. Students are asked to be at the gym by 6:30 a.m. KUSI’s Allie Wagner is usually the host of the event, which is broadcast live on KUSI Channel 9’s “Good Morning San Diego” show. The broadcast usually involves a cheering spirit competition in which the loudest section is judged using a decibel meter.

The varsity Homecoming football game will begin at the stadium at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 8. The Falcons will play University City High School. The game will be featured as the “KUSI Prep Pigskin Report’s Corvette Diner Game of the Week.” The JV football team will play the University City High JVs at 3:30 p.m. Friday.
Other Falcons athletic teams will also be in action Homecoming week. The women’s golf team will play Thursday, Sept. 7 against Cathedral High starting at 3:30 p.m. at The Country Club of Rancho Bernardo. The SRHS varsity field hockey team will play Canyon Crest at home starting at 4:45 p.m. The JV field hockey team will play the Canyon Crest JV team at 3:30 p.m. Falcons cross country runners will participate in the Mustang Invite at Rohr Park in Chula Vista beginning at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 8.

The Falcons freshman women’s volleyball team will compete in the 2017 Novice Titan Invitational Tournament starting at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 9 at Epic Volleyball Center, 13955 Stowe Drive in Poway. The Falcons JV field hockey team is scheduled to be in action at an all-day tournament on Saturday at the Serra High School stadium, 5156 Santo Road.
Rounding out the big week will be the Scripps Ranch High School Homecoming Dance. This traditional celebration will be held from 8 to 11 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 9 in the school’s Quad.
