Farmer’s Market holds Trick or Treat Festival

The biggest and only public Halloween event for children and families in Scripps Ranch this weekend is the Trick or Treat Festival at the Scripps Ranch Farmer’s Market on Saturday, Oct. 28, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The market is held each Saturday, but this weekend’s version will be especially festive, with all kinds of fun for the little ones, and it’s all free.

There will be a Penguin Treasure Hunt with special Halloween toys for the kids. A face painter and balloon artist will be available for the children starting at 10 a.m. The market will have a petting zoo and a Kids Art Booth, all for free. A caricature artist will also be on hand. Parents should make sure they bring Halloween treat bags for their children so the kids can collect and carry their goodies.

The Scripps Ranch Farmer’s Market is run by Beverly and Mike Cassity, and they have gone all-out to plan a great Halloween experience for the kids and their families this weekend. They encourage visitors to wear costumes Saturday at the market, although they are not required.

“We take pictures of everybody,” Beverly said. “We will have 50 to 60 vendors that day and every vendor will have treats for the kids.”

In addition, the market will provide plenty of bouncy fun for the youngsters.

“In the grass area to the south of the market, we’re going to put a three-in-one inflatable jump, slide and obstacle course. That’s free to all the children,” Beverly explained.

No shopping centers are having a Halloween event Saturday, so the Farmer’s Market is the place to be for Halloween fun on Oct. 28.

The Scripps Ranch Farmer’s Market has a welcoming, relaxed vibe. The place is kid-friendly and the people in charge are warm.

The market offers an abundance of shopping opportunities, and serves breakfast and lunch in its Bistro Food Court as live entertainers provide music. Customers can have a meal, browse among the many booths, purchase a supply of fresh produce, enjoy a cup of gourmet coffee or a cold drink, listen to live music, visit with friends and discover something new and surprising.

The Scripps Ranch Farmer’s Market is located at 10380 Spring Canyon Road, in the Innovations Academy parking lot. Visit srfm.org.
