Fundraiser underway for Diego Ruiz
Diego Ruiz, one of the brothers who own and run the popular Chile Peppers restaurant in Scripps Ranch, was involved in a serious accident and suffered a traumatic brain injury while riding his scooter July 3 on Timberlake Drive.
He was in an induced coma for more than two weeks and recently regained some functions. Due to COVID-19, the hospital is on lockdown, so visitations are not permissible, meaning Diego he has no family by his side.
As of Aug. 4, Diego was able to walk with assistance. He can communicate and is beginning to eat on his own.
His family hopes to bring him home to provide him with care and support that is essential for his recovery.
They are looking for the community’s assistance to help them afford to provide Diego with a nurse and provide physical therapy from home.
Ezequiel Ruiz – one of Diego’s brothers – with the help of Dave Parker – a Scripps Ranch resident and financial advisor – is organizing a GoFundMe fundraising campaign to help with this effort.
