The San Diego City Council recognized March 6 as “Scripps Miramar Ranch Library 25th Anniversary Day” in the City of San Diego. During a special ceremony in council chambers, District 5 San Diego City Councilman Mark Kersey declared March 6 as “Scripps Miramar Ranch Library 25th Anniversary Day” to celebrate the library’s silver anniversary.

“Over the last 25 years, the Scripps Miramar Ranch Library has become a focal point of activity in Scripps Ranch, offering diverse and popular programs for people of all ages,” Kersey said. “I know the library will continue to serve an integral role in the community for the next 25 years and beyond.”

The Scripps Miramar Ranch Library opened at its current location, 10301 Scripps Lake Drive, on March 13, 1993. Its collection has grown to approximately 88,000 titles and offers a public access computer lab named for the Ellen Browning Scripps Foundation and a bookshop called the “Book Nook” operated by the Scripps Ranch Friends of the Library. It circulates more than 16,000 materials throughout the year, ranking eighth in circulation among 36 public library locations.

“The vision of our public libraries is to be the place for opportunity, discovery and inspiration, and the Scripps Miramar Ranch Library is really a testament to that,” said San Diego Public Library Director Misty Jones.

“I also have to thank the reading public that make us such a vital heart of the neighborhood,” said Branch Manager Trevor Jones.
