Library update
The fire suppression system replacement project at the Scripps Miramar Ranch Library is in progress. The third phase, which blocks access to the entire adult fiction area and the DVDs, is winding down, and the fourth phase now prevents access to the children’s area. The Community Room and Seminar Room have reopened and have updated AV equipment. Following the installation of the new fire suppression system, the library roof and HVAC replacement are anticipated to begin in late August or September. While this is good news for the 32 year-old library building, the plan will involve closure of the library for at least eight to 10 months. Parking at the Scripps Miramar Ranch Library continues to be a challenge. There has been a pause of more than a year in work on the lower lot, and there will be further delays related to the need for additional earthwork. While the first phase of the project is complete, and the upper lot has reopened, the lower lot remains completely closed to the public. Access from the overflow parking area on Meanley Drive continues to be blocked. The completion of the parking expansion will add 47 parking spaces to the original 70, plus a second exit to the parking lot with a traffic light. The lot will also include four EV spaces/charging stations.
