NEWS UPDATES: Thursday, June 22
Expect delays on Scripps Poway Pkwy.
Motorists planning to drive along Scripps Poway Parkway can expect delays and lane closures today between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. as the City of Poway Street Maintenance Division conducts previously scheduled street repairs, stop light testing, curb changes, gutter testing and landscaping.
Yesterday, June 21, a stop light on Scripps Poway Parkway had stopped working with none of the normal flashing lights warning of a stop light malfunction, but most motorists were cautiously stopping and proceeding while observing the rules of a four-way stop at the intersection. It’s not clear if the malfunction was due to the street repairs and upgrades.
The work on Scripps Poway Parkway is scheduled to be completed today.
Next week, work is scheduled for the central section of Poway Road from June 26 to June 30.
Night Market fundraiser planned
A special event called the Scripps Ranch Night Market is being planned for July 26 to be held in the parking lot of 12205 Scripps Poway Parkway, near the corner of Scripps Poway Parkway and Pomerado Road. The event will be a special “girls night out” full of shopping and socializing from 6:30 to 9 p.m. that evening.
The Night Market, being planned by Pastel Bakery owner Joann Leo and Scripps Ranch resident Gina Mell, is in support of the Alabaster Jar Project, a North County-based nonprofit organization that helps women victims of human trafficking receive help and build new lives. The organization provides basic daily essentials; a safe living environment and transitional housing; and support for healing and building a vocation.
Scripps Ranch Night Market will feature LuLaRoe, Bar Method, LipSense, celebrity makeup artist Trish McEvoy, Barron Real Estate, Monica Dean of NBC San Diego Channel 7 and Susan Johnson, CEO of the Alabaster Jar Project.
Those wishing to get involved or needing more information may call Joann Leo, (858) 842-1026.
