Scripps Ranch News: your new media outlet

Hello everyone! You are viewing Scripps Ranch News, your digital newspaper, your new community website and bulletin board, your local free press, your independent source for neighborhood news and your professional media outlet.

Hyper-local
This hyper-local news source and social media network will highlight people and events on a daily basis.
In the old world of print news there was a saying that the average person was likely to get their name published three times: when they were born, when they got married and when they died. With Scripps Ranch News, your chances just got a whole lot better. No story is too big or too small.

Citizen journalism
Scripps Ranch News was designed so the readers can participate in the creation of its contents. We promote community interaction and participatory journalism though this site and all our social media pages. We look forward to accepting your news items, photos and short videos. Contact us.

Our purpose and intentions
Scripps Ranch is a good place to live and sometimes a good place to hide. It’s common for residents to focus on careers elsewhere, return home, scrape up dinner, help the kids with homework and fall asleep, only to repeat the routine the next day.

We pass by homes. We see familiar faces at the store or at school. We sometimes shout a greeting to neighbors, then go inside our homes. It’s easy and often desirable to live in our bubbles.

There’s nothing wrong with simply “living” here and enjoying the quiet. But did you ever wonder what’s inside those doors and behind those fences? Ever see someone and ask yourself, “What’s his story?” Well, we intend to take you inside Scripps Ranch, a few layers deep into this community and the lives of its residents. We hope to help you gain a better understanding of the people here.

This unique San Diego suburb has an interesting mix of cultures. Its people have a vast array of beliefs, views and outlooks. In speaking with residents, we realized not everyone here is like-minded; not everyone views the world the same. Not everyone is socially active. Not everyone has children or owns a home. Scripps Ranch News is meant to be inclusive, to include all residents of Scripps Ranch. We hope to tell the stories of all our residents in a truthful, honest manner that promotes understanding.

Furthermore, Scripps Ranch itself does not have a physical Main Street, a town center where large numbers mingle on a daily basis and communicate with one another. Scripps Ranch News is meant to serve this community as its digital Main Street.
