Marching Band & Color Guard Tournament
Experience the sights and sounds of the 20th Annual Scripps Ranch High School Marching Band & Color Guard Tournament on Saturday, Oct. 7 at Scripps Ranch High School. This event showcases marching bands from throughout Southern California. Gates open to the public at 4 p.m. Performances begin at 5 p.m. The following bands will be competing: West Hills High School, West Valley High School, Oceanside High School, Junipero Serra High School, El Capitan High School, Valhalla High School, Scripps Ranch High School, Grossmont High School, Patrick Henry High School and Lakeside High School. The Scripps Ranch High School Marching Band will perform at 7:15 p.m. and the awards presentation will be held at 8:45 p.m. Tickets for adults are $10 at the gate; $5 for students with ID; and free for senior citizens and children under age 12. Events at Sanctuary Lounge
DJ Barry Thomas will play throwback jams on Friday, Oct. 6 from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. at Sanctuary Lounge. Dress to impress.

Sanctuary Lounge will be closed for a private party between 4 and 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7, but will reopen at 9:30 when DJ Smooth will be on the turntables until closing time.

Sunday, Oct. 8 is Happy Hour All Day at Sanctuary Lounge from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Last chance to see ‘Accomplice’
This is the last weekend to see the Scripps Ranch Theatre production of “Accomplice” at the Legler Benbough Theatre on the campus of Alliant International University, 9783 Avenue of Nations. “Accomplice” will run through Oct. 8. Performance times are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m. Visit scrippsranchtheatre.org.


Newtopia food truck schedule
Customers at Newtopia Cyder can order meals from food trucks located just outside this weekend. Here is the schedule:

Friday, Oct. 6, 3 p.m., Tacos El Rorro (Mexican food)
Sunday, Oct. 8, 3 p.m., Carver, Coal and Barrel (barbecue)

Swim & Racquet Club Oktoberfest
The Scripps Ranch Swim & Racquet Club will hold its annual Oktoberfest on Saturday, Oct. 7 from 4 to 9 p.m. at the Aviary club location, 9875 Aviary Drive.

Those attending may purchase meals from any of four food trucks that will be lined up on the back grass area. Attendees may also bring picnic food. No personal alcohol is allowed to be brought in during Oktoberfest, but alcohol will be served in the beer garden. Ballast Point Beer, Newtopia Cyder and red and white wines will available for purchase while supplies last. Drink tickets are available at the Aviary front desk prior to the event and at the entrance to the garden during Oktoberfest.

There will be an abundance of games to keep children happy, including a climbing wall, a quad pod, a wrecking ball game, five different carnival games, an Astrojump, a toddler obstacle course, pony rides, a henna tattoo artist, a giant LED foosball table and Hi-striker. Music will be provided by DJ Mr. Tim from the Children’s Center.

This event is for club members, but guests may enter when accompanied by a club member. Guests may enter for $10 per person or use a guest pass. Guest passes are available at the Aviary club front desk. Visit srsrc.com/oktoberfest.


Scripps Ranch Farmer’s Market
The Scripps Ranch Farmers Market offers a wide selection of vendors each Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at 10380 Spring Canyon Road, in the Innovations Academy parking lot. Browse among the booths with a variety of food, services, produce and merchandise. Grab something to eat, sit down and enjoy live music in the food court. Very family-friendly. Visit srfm.org.


Sunset 5k fundraiser: Join the Jerabek Runners this Saturday, Oct. 7 at 3 p.m. for the Solana Beach Sunset 5k. Run and stroll along the sand, soak in the views and raise funds for diabetes prevention at San Diego’s only sunset beach 5k. The event supports the Skinny Gene Project, founded and operated by fellow Jerabekians, and will also donate 15 percent of Jerabek team registration fees back to the school.
