Nerf War at Jerabek Park!
Who said war can’t be fun? A huge battle is looming in Scripps Ranch on Friday, and it’s sure to be both fun and exhilarating. What better way to spend Winter Break?

A gigantic Nerf War has been organized and scheduled for Jerabek Neighborhood Park, 10200 Scripps Trail, on Friday, Dec. 29. The battle will begin at 10 a.m.

Originally set up by a Scripps Ranch mom after seeing how much fun her son and his friends enjoyed playing with their Nerf guns at birthday parties, the Nerf War invitation has been extended to all youngsters of elementary age in Scripps Ranch, and their friends — no matter where they live. Rules are loose at this point. The only real rule is no head shots. It’s probably a good idea to tell the kids not to worry about losing or sharing their foam darts. It’s likely many rounds of ammunition will be lost in the carnage.

New Year’s Eve at Sanctuary Lounge
On Friday night, Dec 29. 18, Sanctuary Lounge will feature Keni Yarbro and his acoustic guitar beginning at 7 p.m. DJ GiGi will follow Yarbro’s performance to keep the sounds flowing until 1:30 a.m. The Jim Beam girls will be on hand Friday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. serving Jim Double Barrel.

On Sunday, Dec. 31, Sanctuary Lounge will offer a cigar and beer special. Come in to enjoy an amazing Fratello or Ceron cigar along with any of Sanctuary’s 16 beers on tap for $15 between 4 and 8 p.m.

Sanctuary Lounge will hold its New Year’s Eve party Sunday for customers from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. Customers can reserve a section now. Entry is free until 10 p.m.; cost is $10 per person after 10 p.m. The celebration will include a midnight balloon drop, complimentary champagne toast, party favors and DJ Smooth on the turntables.

Farmer’s Market on break, reopens Jan. 6
The Scripps Ranch Farmers Market, normally open every Saturday, will take a break to allow its vendors to spend time with family and friends this Saturday, Dec. 30. The big news is that the Farmer’s Market will open again with new hours starting Saturday, Jan. 6. The new hours will be 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The Scripps Ranch Farmers Market offers a wide variety of vendors at 10380 Spring Canyon Road, in the Innovations Academy parking lot. Visit srfm.org.

Yanni’s offers New Year’s Eve dinner
Yanni’s Bar & Grill invites customers to celebrate with a special New Year’s Eve dinner on Sunday, Dec. 31. The restaurant will offer a special four course prix fixe menu (the regular menu will not be available that night).

Cost will be $65 per person plus tax plus gratuity. Add a glass of Piper Heidshieck N/V brut for $20 plus tax plus gratuity.

Library hours
The Scripps Miramar Ranch library will be closed on New Year’s Day, Monday, Jan. 1, and on Martin Luther King, Jr., Day, Monday, Jan. 15. It will be open regular hours for all other days from now through January.
