Music and more at Sanctuary
The Setting Sons acoustic guitar cover duo will bring their Americana style of music to Sanctuary Lounge starting at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 17. Setting Sons consists of Galen Cram (lead vocals, guitar, harmonica) and Rob Hanzlik (lead and slide guitar, vocals).

At 9:30 p.m. on Friday, DJ Gigi returns to Sanctuary Lounge. Maybe you’ve heard her on the radio (on 95.7). Now you can hear her and see her perform live at Sanctuary until 1:30 a.m. DJ Gigi will definitely get the crowd on the dance floor.

On Saturday, Nov. 18, DJ Smooth will provide the tunes from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Ready for some great news? It’s happy hour all day long at Sanctuary Lounge on Sunday, Nov. 19. Doors open at 10 a.m.

SR Active Singles meet at Cheers
Dance to live music and meet other singles at Cheers Bar, 9995 Carmel Mountain Road in Rancho Penasquitos. The Scripps Ranch Active Singles group will meet at 7:30 p.m. The band Wolff will be playing from 8 to 11:30 p.m. Join with some other singles MeetUp groups for a fun evening of socializing and dancing. There’s no cover and parking is free. The lounge has a pool table, shuffle board and plenty of space for dancing. In addition to appetizers, Cheers features choice steaks and Angus burgers that you can cook on their communal grill. They have a full bar and Friday night specials are $5 Goose Island IPA pints and $4 kamikaze shots.


Mustang Theater presents ‘Elf’
“Elf the Musical, Jr.” ends its run Friday, Nov. 17 in the Marshall Mustang Theatre starting at 6 p.m. “Elf,” based on the Will Ferrell movie, is the story of Buddy the Elf — a human raised in the North Pole at Santa’s workshop. He makes the daring journey through the Candy Cane Forest and the Lincoln Tunnel to reunite with his birth father, Walter, who is on Santa’s naughty list. Tickets are $7 at bit.ly/2yzEyYT.


‘The Outsiders’
The Falcon Playhouse production of “The Outsiders” will end with a final performance Friday, Nov. 17 in the SRHS Performing Arts Building. The performance begins at 6:30 p.m. Advance tickets are $7 plus a small finance charge, and may be purchased online on the Falcon Playhouse Facebook page: bit.ly/2zvEDxL. Tickets at the door are $10.

‘The Season of Love’
Scripps Ranch Theatre presents “The Season of Love,” a world premiere play. This unique play, created by veteran San Diego playwright James Caputo, includes four separate mini-stories.

“The Season of Love” is scheduled to run through Dec. 10 on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in the Legler Benbough Theatre on the campus of Alliant International University, 9783 Avenue of Nations. Performance times are Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Visit scrippsranchtheatre.org.


Football special at Ballast Point

Jr. Pee Wee Falcons seek D3 title
A big championship game comes to Scripps Ranch this weekend as the Falcons Jr. Pee Wee Pop Warner football team take on the Vista Panthers at Scripps Ranch High School in the D3 Championship Game on Saturday, Nov. 18 with a 10 a.m. kickoff.


Scripps Ranch Farmer’s Market
The Scripps Ranch Farmers Market offers a wide variety of vendors each Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at 10380 Spring Canyon Road, in the Innovations Academy parking lot.

Recycling event scheduled
An Electronics Recycling and Paper Shredding Event is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 18 and Sunday, Nov. 19 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Scripps Ranch High School. Residents are encouraged to bring their paper documents for shredding. Electronic items can also be dropped off so they can be properly recycled.


Teasers Toastmasters host speech contests
The Scripps Teasers Toastmasters, celebrating its 35th anniversary this week, will host the Areas 22 and 10 Humorous and International Speech Contests on Saturday, Nov. 18, in the Community Room of the Scripps Miramar Library, 10301 Scripps Lake Drive. Registration begins at 1:15 p.m. The contestant and judge briefings begin at 1:30 p.m. Contests begin at 2 p.m. The suggested donation is $3 for snacks and beverages.


Yanni’s plans fundraiser
Yanni’s Bar & Grill is planning a Hurricane & Fire Relief Fundraiser Dinner intended to help Americans in Northern California and Puerto Rico who were devastated by the wildfires and Hurricane Maria, respectively.

The event will be held Monday, Nov. 20, starting at 6 p.m. It will include a complimentary wine tasting, reception and dinner buffet. A suggested donation of $75 per person will go entirely to the cause. Checks can be made payable to either the Redwood Empire Food Bank or the One America Appeal for MariaDonations are 100 percent tax deductible.
