Scripps Ranch cases pass shocking milestone
The County of San Diego reported total cases of coronavirus in the 92131 ZIP Code area of Scripps Ranch surpassed the 100 mark this week. Cases recorded for Scripps Ranch increased to 106 cases. That’s an increase of 18 cases in one week. New cases in Scripps Ranch have been in the double digits for two weeks in a row. Total cases in Mira Mesa rose to 315. Poway had 171 total cases. San Diego County reports the cases, broken down by residence listed for each person who tested positive for COVID-19.
Drive-thru graduation
Scripps Ranch High School (SRHS) is planning to hold a drive-thru/walk graduation ceremony for the graduating Class of 2020, within the San Diego county guidelines for safety during the coronavirus pandemic, according to a message sent by Matt Lawson, SRHS interim principal. The graduation ceremony was planned for SRHS on Wednesday, July 29 from 3 to 6 p.m.
Online classes to start SDUSD school year
The San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD) announced it will hold online classes only as the 2020-21 school year starts in August. This does not mean a physical return to campuses will not happen this year or next. SDUSD will provide a public assessment on Aug. 10 of how soon a physical return to class will be possible.
The new school year will start online only and will resume on Aug. 31 as previously scheduled; and the district will continue planning for a return to in-person learning as soon as public health conditions allow.
Wolff keeps putting out the tunes
Scripps Ranch musician Steve Wolff has scheduled two live streams performances this week this week:
