Coronavirus cases in 92131
As of Saturday, April 11, Scripps Ranch was holding at six confirmed cases of coronavirus in the 92131 ZIP Code area, according to the County of San Diego. There were 33 cases in Mira Mesa and 18 cases in Poway.
So, Scripps Ranch has not had another confirmed case for more than a week, and those who have lived within the rules of safe social distancing are to be commended. That’s the reason our numbers are so low.
Unfortunately, several instances of residents gathering in groups, which is now prohibited, and customers shopping without mouth coverings were witnessed and reported just on Saturday alone. Furthermore, local social media pages included conversation of residents planning celebrations and gatherings, including end of school events that would include crowds. So far, Scripps Ranch has maintained relatively low numbers of persons with the virus, but only because locals have practiced safe social distancing. It only takes a few to spread the virus.
COVID-19 is very serious and, unfortunately, we need to be ready to maintain social distancing and isolation for the long term. Here is a brief summary of two recent reports about the virus: Some algorithms by experts indicate a possible resurgence could be expected in July. In addition, reports this weekend by medical experts indicate not only how quickly it can spread, but early research in the U.S. shows even those who survive the virus often suffer lifelong damage to lungs, heart, kidneys and liver.
