WD-40 holds festive event
WD-40 CEO Garry Ridge personally greeted guests as they arrived at the company’s holiday party held at the new global headquarters on Businesspark Avenue in Scripps Ranch on Saturday, Dec. 9.
Although the staff moved into the building in August, this event served as the official grand opening of the headquarters. Guests gathered as Ridge made his opening remarks. District 5 San Diego City Councilman Mark Kersey then welcomed WD-40 to the neighborhood and recited parts of a city proclamation honoring the company.
Ridge, in true WD-40 fashion, sprayed a stream of WD-40 onto the blades of giant ceremonial scissors before he and Kersey joined to cut the ribbon in a ceremony officially christening the building as the company’s main offices.
Meanwhile, children laughed outside as they climbed a small man-made hill and rode atop disks, sliding down a huge path of snow, not far from the building’s entrance. The excitement grew considerably as Santa Claus suddenly appeared in the parking lot and headed toward the party.
