ON TO THE WORLD SERIES

The Scripps Ranch Little League Intermediate Division All-Star team captured the Western Region Championship with an impressive 13-6 victory over Hawaii on Thursday, July 26 in Nogales, Ariz. Now, these champions from Scripps Ranch, representing the Western United States, have earned the right to play in the Intermediate Little League World Series.

Scripps Ranch faces its next challenger, an All-Star team from Ankeny Little League in Iowa, representing the Central United States. The game is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 29 in Livermore, Calif.

Scripps Ranch has become the Intermediate Western Region Champions. No team in District 32 has ever advanced to a World Series. But this is not the biggest or most impressive aspect of their accomplishments nor the team’s upcoming challenges. Scripps Ranch is now thrust upon the international stage. The team will represent the Western United States in this World Series tournament not only against teams from the Central, Southwestern, Southeastern and Eastern regions of the United States and Puerto Rico, but also against challengers from Europe-Africa, Latin America, Asia Pacific, Australia and Canada, as well as the host team from Livermore Little League (the District 57 Host). Games in the tournament are scheduled to be played from July 29 through Aug. 5. Three final games on Aug. 4 and 5 are scheduled to be broadcast on ESPN.
