Pet of the Week: Star

Star is a shy and sensitive cat. When he first came to San Diego Humane Society, he displayed fearful behaviors and was enrolled for treatment at the Behavior Center.

The staff placed Star in a specialized foster home, and it was here where his behavior began to change. In a quiet, calm and consistent environment, Star was able to form positive associations with his foster family, and he slowly began exploring his environment. Now, he bunts and leans into petting from his familiar people. He has started to interact with toys, enjoys being brushed and even chooses to sleep on the bed with his foster mom.

Star’s ideal home will be in a quiet household with an adult-only family, without other cats or dogs, who will be patient and give him time and space to feel comfortable and safe. If you think Star might be a good fit for you, the San Diego Humane Society will arrange a consult with a trainer, who will be able to speak with you more about Star and his specific needs. Set up an appointment with our San Diego Campus at sdhumane.org/adopt.

His adoption includes spay/neuter, current vaccinations, permanent microchip identification, a certificate for a free veterinary exam and an incentive for pet insurance from MetLife.

Star is available for adoption at San Diego Humane Society’s San Diego Campus at 5500 Gaines St. To learn more about making him part of your family, make an appointment at sdhumane.org/adopt or call (619) 299-7012.
