Annual Dingeman World’s Fair returns
By Claudine Ricanor
The Dingeman Elementary School World’s Fair returns this year, continuing an annual tradition that brings students, families, alumni and neighbors together to celebrate culture, learning and community, as the school also marks its 30th year.
The Dingeman World’s Fair will take place Friday, April 17, from 3 to 6:30 p.m. at Dingeman Elementary. Families, friends and community members are encouraged to attend or volunteer.
First introduced in 2014, the World’s Fair has become a familiar gathering in Scripps Ranch. Over time, it has grown into one of Dingeman’s most anticipated events, reflecting the school’s long standing role as a place where families connect and students learn beyond the classroom.
The annual event attracts more than 300 attendees each year, and is open to the public. It is designed for all ages. The event features cultural displays, informational booths, live performances and food representing traditions from around the world.
From its beginnings, the World’s Fair has served as both a celebration and a learning experience. Students and volunteers work to create country themed exhibits highlighting history, customs, language and traditions.
Live performances featuring music and dance help set the tone for the afternoon, while food booths invite families to stop, sample and talk. Games and hands-on activities throughout the campus encourage families to stay and participate, creating a relaxed, family friendly atmosphere that reflects the diversity of the Dingeman community.
The World’s Fair also serves as a fundraising event, with proceeds supporting school programs and student activities. Organizers note, however, that its purpose extends beyond fundraising.
“It’s important for our students to understand, embrace and celebrate different cultures,” said Dusty Pedrotti, principal of Dingeman Elementary. “Dingeman is a diverse community, and I’m proud of how our students, families and volunteers come together each year to celebrate that diversity and learn from one another.”
By creating space for learning, play and shared experiences, the World’s Fair helps students appreciate differences while also recognizing the values that unite the community.
As Dingeman celebrates its 30th year, the World’s Fair stands as a reflection of the school’s history and its continued commitment to bringing people together. For students, it offers an opportunity to learn and lead. For families and community members, it provides a chance to gather, connect and share in a meaningful tradition.
