Middle school holds promotion ceremony

Thurgood Marshall Middle School Principal Michelle Irwin presided over an inspiring commencement ceremony for its eighth-graders who will be moving up to the level of high school freshmen in the fall.

Parents, family and friends proudly viewed the ceremony held on the school;s upper blacktop area on June 14 under a bright sun. Proud parents congratulated their children, hugged them and shot photos of the happy students once the ceremony ended.

On June 9, the previous Friday, students who chose to participate were bussed to the San Diego State Aztec Center for the Marshall Middle School Eighth Grade Promotion Party where they enjoyed an evening of music from a DJ, bowling, ping pong, billiards, corn hole, a photo booth, food and a candy buffet.
