Winter Break for all Scripps Ranch public schools will begin next week starting on Monday, Dec. 18. There will be no school from Dec. 18 through Jan. 2. Classes resume Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018.

Winter Concerts: The Scripps Ranch High School Winter Concerts will be held this week. The Winter Symphonic Band and Choir Concert will be held Wednesday, Dec. 13, at 6:30 p.m. The Orchestra Holiday Concert will be held Thursday, Dec. 14 at 6:30 p.m. Both will be in the SRHS Theater. Tickets are $7 pre-sale and $10 at the door.

Holiday Choir Concerts: Two sets of Holiday Choir Concerts are scheduled this week at Marshall Middle School. The first will be Wednesday, Dec. 13 at 6 p.m. The second will be Thursday, Dec. 14 at 6 p.m. Both will be held in the Theater.
Band fundraiser: On Friday, Dec. 15, visit the Scripps Ranch Rubio’s at the corner of Scripps Poway Parkway and Spring Canyon Road (next to Sammy’s) to support the MMS Instrumental Music program. Present this flyer (bit.ly/2BWlup4) to the cashier when ordering between 2 and 9 p.m., and the Instrumental Music program will receive 20 percent of the cost of your meal.

Exhibition: This Thursday, Dec. 14, is Exhibition. All students and their parents are expected to come. Students will be exhibiting work from projects they have been working on this year. Sign in at your child’s classroom.
Ornaments for sale: Lauren’s and Ashleigh’s kindergarten and first grades are raising funds for orphans. The classes will be selling African-made fair trade ornaments to raise money for orphanages. Book sale: Eighth-graders will be selling pre-wrapped books donated by an Innovations Academy family as a fundraiser before and after school every day this week.
Minimum Day and no pizza: This Friday, Dec. 15, there will be no pizza sales due to the fact that Friday is a minimum day.
Lost and Found: Items in the Lost and Found will be donated next weekend. Before leaving for winter break, be sure to check for lost jackets, sweaters, lunch items, etc.

Library Book Sale: The Winter Used Book Sale starts Tuesday, Dec. 12 and ends Friday, Dec. 15, 8:30 a.m. until 30 minutes after the final bell. Holiday Gift Shop: The Jerabek Holiday Gift Shop is open daily now through Thursday, Dec. 14. It is open each of these days before and after school, and also open Friday, Dec. 15 before school only. Two convenient locations include the courtyard and the running track. Items for sale include new Jerabek magnets, snowman slime, holiday pencils, slap bracelets, reindeer food and snowman soup. All proceeds go to the Fifth Grade Promotion Fund.
Restaurant Night: Dine at PickUp Stix at 10755 Scripps Poway Parkway on Thursday, Dec. 14 between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m. and 20 percent of your ticket will go toward Jerabek Elementary School. Be sure to present your flyer when ordering.
Pajama Day: Friday, Dec. 15 is Pajama Day at Jerabek. Have your child wear their PJs to school.
Lost & Found: Items in the Lost and Found will be donated at the end of this week. Come by to see if your child lost that jacket, lunch box or whatever before Friday. To make it easier, all items will be laid out on tables so you don’t have to reach into the dreaded pile.

Jog-A-Thon 2018: Parents who want to get involved in planning the Jog-A-Thon 2018 are invited to a meeting on Friday, Dec. 14 at 8 a.m. in the Teachers’ Lounge. This fundraiser brings a lot of money to MRE each year. Organizers would love to see some new faces at the first meeting.
