Blue Angels visit: Members of the Navy’s Blue Angels flight demonstration team will visit Scripps Ranch High School on Friday, Sept. 22 from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. in the school’s theater.

Marching Band & Color Guard Tournament: Experience the sights and sounds of the 20th annual SRHS Marching Band & Color Guard Tournament on Oct. 7 at Scripps Ranch High School. This event showcases marching bands from throughout Southern California. Sponsorships are greatly appreciated. See the Scripps Ranch High School Music website for details:

The Scripps Ranch Marching Band will hold a Pancake Breakfast fundraiser at Applebee’s, 9480 Mira Mesa Blvd., on Saturday, Oct. 21 from 8 to 10 a.m. Tickets are $10 each, and half of the ticket sales benefit the music program. Purchase a ticket from any marching band member, from Mr. Shedd during school hours at the Band Room or at the door. The marching band program will use the funds raised to pay for new equipment.

Theatre Fund Drive: Marshall Mustang Theatre is in the midst of its fund drive. The cost of a theater production ranges from $10-20k. The program relies on support from the community to continue including performing arts in the students’ educations. Donations will go toward costumes, production costs, equipment costs and props. Bus Program Meeting: A meeting about the Parent Paid Bus Program will be held Tuesday, Sept. 26 at 5 p.m. in the campus Theater.

Family Dinner Night: Dingeman Elementary is holding a family Dinner Night fundraiser Thursday, Sept. 21. Hungry students and their families can enjoy a meal from the Kebab Shop, 9450 Mira Mesa Blvd., any time from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., and 50 percent of the proceeds will be donated to the school. In addition, those craving a sweet treat can visit Yogurt Heaven, 12010 Scripps Summit Drive, on the same day between 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. for a cup of yogurt, and 25 percent of the purchase will be donated to the school. Fifth Grade Family Science Night: Parents of fifth graders should sign up for Family Science Night for Grade 5 as soon as possible to reserve a spot. The event will be held Oct. 5. On the day of the event, you and your child will get hands-on experience with six science experiments. No siblings, please. Sign-up with your child’s name and pick one spot per child (accompanying adults do not count). Visit

EAR Training: Those involved with Everyone’s A Reader (EAR) will meet for training on Thursday, Sept. 21 from 9 to 11 a.m. in the school’s Multi-Purpose Room.

Costume Boutique: On Oct. 5, AFP will be holding a costume boutique where you can buy gently used Halloween costumes. AFP will be accepting donations of used costumes from Sept. 25 to Sept. 29. All profits go to the AFP.

No U-turns: The police have been ticketing for illegal U-turns near the school. It is illegal to do a U-turn within 100 feet of a school. There are only three places near EBS where you can make a legal U-turn:

  1. At the intersection by the church
  2. At the top of Alderhill Terrace beyond the double yellow lines
  3. Heading toward Scripps Poway Parkway by the Community Center
    EXCEPTION: Per school policy, parents who are in the center divide, waiting in line for pick-up/drop-off may U-turn into the loading zone south of the parking lot.

Innovations Academy

Free Padres tickets: Tickets are available for a Padres game vs. the Colorado Rockies on Saturday, Sept. 23 with a 5:40 p.m. game time at Petco Park. Coach Curry’s non-profit organization, Athletic Initiative, has reserved 100 tickets for Innovations Academy kids to attend the game for free. They will go on a first come, first served basis. To reserve your tickets, email the following info to April Curry: Provide your name, student’s name and grade, number of tickets requested and number of adults/kids who will be attending. April will reply to your RSVP with additional info for the event and will start a wait list once the tickets are all reserved.

Family Fun Night: The Innovations Academy third annual Family Fun Night is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 28 from 5 to 8 p.m. There will be music, dancing and more. This is an excellent way to connect with other Innovations Academy families.

Minimum day: Tuesday, Sept. 19 will be a minimum day for teacher professional development. School will end at 12:25 p.m. that day.

Movie Night: Jerabek Elementary Movie Night will feature “The Lorax.” The event begins at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 29. Refreshments will be available for purchase from Carver, Coal & Barrell; Finest City Kettle Corn; and Kona Ice.

Super Pledge: The Jerabek pledge drive is the FFO’s largest fundraiser of the entire year with 100 percent of the proceeds going directly to the school. Donate this week to be included in the drawing for press level suite tickets to the Sept. 30 SDSU Aztec football game. There will be three lucky winners receiving eight tickets each. The Jerabek Elementary Family Faculty Organization (FFO) funds many of the programs the school offers to enrich the children’s education. The FFO encourages every family to participate in the Pledge Drive. This year, Jerabek FFO is committed to contributing​ ​$120,000​ to fund and or subsidize specific staff positions and school programs. Visit

Art Corp Orientation: Art Corp Volunteer Orientation will be held Monday, Sept. 25 at 8:45 a.m. in the auditorium. Parents and grandparents are all welcome to volunteer and help teach the love of art.  

Miramar Ranch Elementary School

Minimum Day: Wednesday, Sept. 20 will be a minimum day at Miramar Ranch Elementary. Classes will end at 12:10 p.m.

Restaurant Night: Miramar Ranch Elementary will hold “Taco Thursday” on Sept. 21 from 2 to 9 p.m. at the Scripps Ranch Rubio’s, 10785 Scripps Poway Parkway in the Scripps Ranch Marketplace. Rubio’s will donate 20 percent of all pre-tax proceeds to the Family Faculty Association. Bring the whole family, and present this online flyer when ordering:

Ice Cream Social/Movie Night: Miramar Ranch Elementary School will hold its annual Ice Cream Social and Movie Night for students and their families starting at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 22. Ice cream will be served from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room. The movie, “Boss Baby”, will be screened on the school’s upper playground area starting at 7:15 p.m. Both events are free. The Class of 2018 will be selling hot popcorn, candy and drinks to complete the movie watching experience (cash only please).

Birthday Book Club: The Birthday Book Club allows the FFA to purchase the newest books, including recent award winners. Your child will be able to select a book from a collection of new library bound books. A label recognizing the donation and your child’s birthday will be placed in the front of the book and your child will be recognized on the Birthday Book Club board near the main office. It is never too late to donate. If you child’s birthday has passed you can still donate a book. Visit
