State of the District Address is Oct. 17

Parents of students in the San Diego Unified School District and district employees are invited to the district’s annual “State of the District Address” at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 17, in the Sherman Elementary School Auditorium, 301 22nd St.

The district will report on its accomplishments, share its vision for public education in San Diego and outline goals for 2017-18 and beyond.

Board President Richard Barrera and Superintendent Cindy Marten will deliver the address.

The event starts with a reception at 4:15 p.m., and will offer light refreshments and desserts. The formal address begins at 5 p.m. Students from San Diego High School’s music and choral programs will provide entertainment.
