Summer weather brings warm summer fun
By Denise Stewart
Brighter skies and longer days are adding more activities to the Welcome Club calendar.
An outdoor morning coffee event at Jerabek Park drew the ladies together for a friendly chat and a breakfast feast hosted by two of the club’s newer members. Linda Kelley and Nancy Delaney organized the event at the shaded picnic tables at the recently renovated and upgraded park. Along with the brunch dishes prepared by the co-hostesses, the comfortable, fresh air surroundings made the club’s celebration of spring a delightful morning for all.
To celebrate the beauty of the hummingbirds and the longer, warmer evenings, Becky and Bruce Carlquist entertained the Welcome Club in their backyard bird sanctuary. Along with the regular TGI potluck dinner and the Carlquist’s feathered family, their guests spent a unique evening enjoying nature along with friends.
While the performance by Laurel Canyon Band was indoors at the Scripps Ranch Theatre, one Friday night the rock music from our younger days brought out the warm memories and young again feelings that entertained and energized the Welcome Club attendees. More of these memorable music performances are on the calendar for the rest of this year. And the Welcome Club will be there to rock with them.
The members of the Welcome Club of Scripps Ranch have been sharing good mornings, afternoons and evenings for 45 years. If you would like to take part in the fun, visit scrippsranchwelcomeclub.com.
