SCRIPPS RANCH WEEKEND

Fireworks this year
While the Scripps Mesa Fireworks has suspended its annual Fourth of July Fireworks Show for 2020 in Mira Mesa, Poway will hold two fireworks displays this year.

The City of Poway will host two firework shows to expand viewing opportunities as part of a re-imagined Fourth of July celebration. Simultaneous firework displays will be launched from both Poway High School and the city’s Sportsplex in the South Poway Business Park.

Fireworks are scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. on July 4.

There won’t be viewing from the Poway High School football field/stadium this year due to social distancing concerns, but the City had a limited number of parking permits available to view the fireworks from Lake Poway, but parking permits are sold out.

The City of Poway asks that anyone heading out to view the fireworks continue to follow the county’s public health orders to limit the spread for COVID-19. This includes no gatherings beyond members of your household and wearing a face covering if you’re within six feet of people not from your household.

All SR schools’ water OK
As California schools consider best practices for reopening in the fall, they must address the fact that too many have found unacceptable levels of lead in their drinking water. CALPIRG released an updated interactive map (https://calpirgedfund.org/feature/cap/get-lead-out-statewide-map) with results reported from schools. More than 2,100 school drinking water fountains tested positive for lead at 1,300 schools in the state over the past three years, according to a new analysis by CALPIRG Education Fund. However, all public schools in Scripps Ranch were tested and all were within the required levels for drinking water from their drinking fountains, according to the map.

Parking enforcement resumes
Enforcement of all parking regulations in the City of San Diego resumed Wednesday, July 1. The enforcement begins with a two-week grace period and citations with corresponding fines will be issued beginning Wednesday, July 15.

The City will issue written warnings for vehicles parked in violation of:

  • Posted street sweeping routes.
  • Metered parking restrictions.
  • Curb time limits.
  • Commercial zones.

Citations will continue to be issued for vehicles parked illegally at red, white and blue painted curbs. Drivers are encouraged to follow posted signage when looking for a parking space. Street sweeping has continued during the public health emergency. Courtesy notices will be distributed to inform residents of the enforcement restart and return to regular service.

Rankings are based on the employee’s experience, no matter who they are or what job they perform. The Glen had to meet the threshold in each category in order to be certified.
