There’s a burger at Yanni’s Bar & Grill that regulars have started calling the Lamb-orghini – a nickname coined by the Matthews, longtime guests who decided the name simply fit.
While every other kitchen in town is arguing over who does beef best, Yanni’s quietly went the other way – seasoned lamb, grilled and built like a classic that refused to play it safe. It’s an easy win: bold, Greek, turns heads and – unlike its namesake – this one you can actually afford.
“We could’ve just done another beef burger like everyone else,” says owner Yanni Pihas, who has run the Scripps Ranch restaurant with his wife, Denise, since 2003. “But where’s the fun in that?”
It’s been on the menu for years; the restaurant just decided it was time people knew. And it pairs perfectly with patio season: three garden spaces with string lights, arguably the best al fresco seats in the neighborhood.
