Students win top award
Over the summer, Vishwas Tattala and Brian Lee, 16-year-old students from Scripps Ranch High School, outpaced global competition to win the Top Grand Gold Award in the International Genius Olympiad (IGO) AI category. The honor was awarded for their innovative work on an unmanned aerial vehicle-based thermal stress identification and diagnosis via an AI-powered mobile app.
The project’s name is AcreIntelligence, targeting small farmers to provide a solution to crop stress and further diagnose issues like pest infestations, plant disease and groundwater depletion. They started this project in October of 2025 and have built it continuously until finally winning the Grand Award at IGO.
“Winning this award on a global stage was incredible, but the real reward has been bringing these skills back to our local community this school year,” Tattala said.
“It’s like months of hard work finally bring home a victory,” Lee added.
