All-natural products for natural wellness
KB Pure Essentials is a company founded in 2013 by two women, Katie Moodie and Brooke Brun, as an all-natural wellness brand. The company was born out of their quest to discover products to help alleviate some of their health challenges, and they eventually formulated and began processing a line that would help others. The company is based in San Diego.
In 2015, their all-natural wellness brand began incorporating CBD, a cannabinoid derived from the cannabis plant, not to be confused with THC, the principal psychoactive derivative of cannabis.
Today, KB Pure Essentials sells an entire line of products and they are available at a booth staffed by staffed by Yazan Zahzah in the Scripps Ranch Farmer’s Market.
CBD is the non-psychoactive compound in cannabis. It’s being used to treat epilepsy in children, and it has helped KB Pure Essentials founder Brun in dealing with her seizures.
“The reason the company itself was founded is because one of the owners suffered from chronic seizures. She had multiple seizures per day and was struggling a lot with it,” Zahzah explained. “She started experimenting with different CBD supplements and found that CBD helped reduce her seizures immensely.”
CBD has a lot of different effects. CBDs can be effective helping alleviate chronic pain, chronic issues of anxiety, depression and sleeplessness, Zahzah said. Cannabinoid receptors help identify where the body needs to be balanced, he added.
“For some people, that’s the stress that manifests in insomnia,” Zahzah explained. “For other people, it’s the chronic conditions like seizures or anxiety. It’s pretty versatile.”
The KB Pure Essentials booth at the Farmer’s Market offers highly concentrated CBD oils mixed with olive oils and peppermint oils. Some users of this product simply place a drop under their tongue each day to help with internal issues.
“The hemp plants we are using are predominantly CBD concentrated. We take out all the THC from our products,” Zahzah explained. “We make health supplements using CBD. We have oral supplements, pain salves and then we also have a skin care and beauty line.”
KB Pure Essentials has all-natural deodorant for both men and women. There is a line of beauty products including day facial cream, night cream, a face wash, a toner and hand lotions. There is an all-natural sunscreen with zinc.
Most impressive is a pain salve that can be rubbed on sore spots externally. Sure enough, a tiny sample quickly rubbed on tennis elbow stopped the pain within seconds and lasted for about 12 hours.
KB Pure Essentials also has a sleep formula in the form of capsules consisting of CBD, melatonin and herbs. In addition, KB Pure Essentials offers CBD oils for pets to help animals suffering pain from cancer, arthritis and basic anxiety.
