Fruit trees were the focus of June’s Scripps-Mesa Garden Club meeting at Lee Ivey’s backyard. An avid fruit lover, Lee bought his second home in Scripps Ranch because it had a large backyard with plenty of room for him to fulfill his desire to plant a wide variety of fruit trees. During the June club meeting, Lee shared both the fruits of the trees and his knowledge of how to produce them.

His orchard includes Philippine limes, Brazilian papaya, persimmons, loquats, banana, Setsumi tangerines, avocados, raspberries, happy Cherimoya and lemon trees.

July’s garden tour on the 28th will be at another member’s home that has a few fruit trees but mostly favors flowering plants. The club will enjoy refreshments among the blooms.

Local residents are invited to the club’s garden tours. If you wish to learn more about the club and its events, send an email to: scrippsmesagardenclub1993@gmail.com.
