Extremely dry temps mix with gusty winds

Yet another Santa Ana weather event is expected for Sunday through Tuesday with potential for another round of strong winds and very low relative humidity. Gusty winds and low humidity can contribute to extreme fire behavior, and any fire that develops will likely spread rapidly.

The Red Flag Warning will remain in effect from 6 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13. Strong gusty winds and low relative humidity are expected for the Southern California.

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.

Expect winds northeast to east 20 to 40 mph with gusts to 60 mph, strongest below passes and canyons. Wind gusts could reach to around 70 mph at isolated locales of the backcountry. Winds will increase over San Diego County by Sunday night. extremely low relative humidity will be in the single digits each day with poor overnight recovery.

Offshore winds will decrease on Wednesday. A gradual moderation of humidity will occur over coastal areas after Wednesday, spreading farther inland each day through the end of the week.
