Falcons advance in tournament action

The Scripps Ranch varsity boys basketball team won its first two games of the three-day Surf & Slam Basketball Tournament at Scripps Ranch, and played Silver Creek high Saturday afternoon, Dec. 29.

The Falcons started the tournament with a 63-35 victory over North Marion High from Oregon on Thursday, Dec. 27.

Scripps Ranch followed that up with a 56-50 win against Will C. Wood High on Friday, Dec. 28, in the second round of the tournament. Photos on this page are from the victory against Will C. Wood.

The Falcons were scheduled to play Silver Creek High at 1:45 p.m. on Dec. 29 in Game 6, the final game of the tournament.

While participating teams do not advance in bracket play as in conventional tournaments, the winner is determined by most games won; and tie breakers include head-to-head game competition, net margin in head-to-head competition, total points in head-to-head competition, net margin in all games, total points scored in all games, most three pointers in all games and most field goals in all games.
