Seahorse Hotel

Inspired by ongoing habitat restoration projects in Australia, the Seahorse Care Team at Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego recently installed a Seahorse Hotel in the White’s Seahorse Habitat. These innovative artificial habitats provide a new type of sanctuary for seahorses and help spread a creative conservation message of hope. Guests can find Birch Aquarium’s Seahorse Hotel in the White’s Seahorse Habitat in the Seadragons & Seahorses exhibition. The aquarium also offers daily seadragon talks where guests can learn more about Weedy Seadragons, a fascinating relative of seahorses.

‘Appropriate’

The estranged siblings of the Lafayette family gather to settle their late father’s Arkansas estate. Amid the clutter they uncover a shocking relic, forcing them to confront long-buried secrets and decades of resentment. As tensions boil over and the cicadas roar, the family faces unsettling truths about their past and how it has shaped them. Directed by Steve H. This Tony Award–winning play is a searing and bitingly funny portrait of family, history and legacy. “Appropriate” runs Jan. 25-Feb. 23 in the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage, Old Globe Theatre.

Twyla Tharp Dance

Twyla Tharp celebrates her 60th anniversary with a coast-to-coast tour featuring her Olivier-nominated
“Diabelli,” set to Beethoven’s masterpiece of the same name, and “Slacktide,” a new dance to a reimagining of Philip Glass’s iconic “Aguas da Amazonia.” Showcasing Tharp’s uncanny and witty use of music to create work of startling originality and beauty, the two dances once again ensure Tharp’s place as one of the great artists of our time.
