Gardeners headed along blooming path

By Denise Stewart

Both the closing of the Library Community Room and the lengthening of days have worked out perfectly for the Scripps-Mesa Garden Club. The club’s last planned indoor meeting on April 28 at the Scripps Miramar Ranch Library featured a talk on California native plants presented by Master Gardener Donna Payton. Donna is a National Garden Show judge and president of the Poway Garden Club.

Her talk included gardening and composting techniques that ensure the health of native plants which provide habitats and food for the little creatures that run the world. Donna encourages other gardeners to cultivate their own green spaces and to embrace eco-friendly practices.

To enjoy the benefits of the season, the May 26 garden meeting will take place at the home of club member Char Fitzgerald. It will mark the beginning of the Garden Club’s outdoor events. Garden tours will fill the club’s meeting calendar until next fall.

Where the indoor meetings will be held then is yet to be determined.

If you would like to attend any of the evening garden walk meetings, check the location by sending an email to scripps-mesagardenclub1993@gmail.com and you will get the information you need to enjoy the event.
