Heat Advisory has been issued

The National Weather Service issued a Heat Advisory for all of San Diego County and Southern California for Friday, July 6, in effect from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. High temperatures are expected between 94 to 102 for inland areas and near higher terrain and the mesas.

One informational graphic released by the National Weather Service predicted a high of 102 at Miramar.

A Heat Advisory means that a period of hot temperatures will occur with increased occurrences of heat illnesses possible.

Here is a message posted on social media by the National Weather Service this morning:
“The sun is starting to rise and, thanks to overnight offshore flow, some of the foothill areas are already in the 80s and 90s! Low deserts too. It’s gonna be a hot one, folks. Start chugging that water NOW and try to stay cool today.”

The heat will create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible. Drink plenty of fluids. Stay in an air- conditioned room. Stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. This is especially true during warm or hot weather when car interiors can reach lethal

temperatures in a matter of minutes.

The forecast for July 6: Mostly sunny in the morning, becoming partly cloudy. Warmer. Highs 87 to 92 near the coast to 101 to 106 inland. Light winds becoming northwest 15 mph with gusts to 25 mph in the afternoon.

Tonight: Partly cloudy. Lows 65 to 70. Areas of winds northwest 15 mph with gusts to 25 mph in the evening becoming light.

Saturday: Partly cloudy. Highs 83 to 88 near the coast to 93 to 98 inland. Light winds.
