SD Jr. Theatre presents ‘Pippin’
San Diego Junior Theatre’s production of “Pippin” is playing through Aug. 13 in the Casa del Prado Theatre, 1600 Village Place, Balboa Park.
Heir to the Frankish throne, the young prince Pippin is in search of the secret to true happiness and fulfillment. He seeks it in the glories of the battlefield, the temptations of the flesh and the intrigues of political power (after disposing of his father King Charlemagne the Great).
In the end, though, Pippin finds that happiness lies not in extraordinary endeavors, but rather in the un-extraordinary moments that happen every day.
“Pippin” features an infectiously unforgettable score from the four-time Grammy-winner, three-time Oscar-winner, and musical theater giant Stephen Schwartz (“Wicked,” “Godspell,” “Children of Eden”), and has been delighting audiences since its Broadway debut in 1972.
Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 7 p.m., and Sundays at 2 p.m. For tickets call the San Diego Junior Theatre, (619) 239-8355 or visit juniortheatre.com.
