These products make good scents
Bridgette Lewin stocks her booth at the Scripps Ranch Farmer’s Market with an abundance of good smells that any homeowner should consider. They are perfect for those looking to create a special ambience or calming atmosphere, or attempting to introduce a pleasant scent to help erase the odors that day-to-day living in a home with children or pets might produce.
Lewin is an independent consultant for Scentsy products, which is best known for its scented paraffin wax and warmer systems.
“Put the wax cube into the warmer and it’s heated by a low wattage light bulb — 15 watt or 25 watt,” Lewin explained. “They are completely safe. You don’t ever have to worry about turning them off or any of the fire hazards or any of the soot you get from the candles.”
Lewin sells a huge variety of packets with scented wax cubes for the warmers. Just place one cube in the warmers, plug it in and turn the dial on the cord and you are set.
“The reason that it is so awesome is because it’s completely safe,” she said. “It’s safe around the dog, it’s safe around the kids.”
There are more than 90 scents to choose from. Right now, the seasonal fall scents are available, including pine, cedar, apple and cinnamon.
One cube will last about a week. Plug in the warmer and you don’t need to turn it off. The wax does not dissipate, only the scent eventually.
There are three ways to clean the wax out of the warmer: 1) turn it off and wait for the wax to harden — then pop it out. 2) pour out the wax while it’s still warm. 3) Place a cotton ball in the middle of the wax while it’s still warm and the cotton will absorb all the wax.
Lewin also provides an assortment of warmers, most in decorative seasonal shapes. Last week she had one shaped like a pumpkin and another shaped like a Christmas tree. There was also a clear one with a beach scene inside. This particular one can be decorated and filled in any manner by the one who buys it.
She also sells a popular new item — the Scentsy cordless warmer, which can be recharged using its USB cord. The charge lasts about 40 hours.
Just about all the Scentsy products are centered around aroma therapy. Lewin also sells room sprays, laundry detergents and laundry soap, a very good kitchen spray, and scented beads that go inside plush animals for children. She also offers scented oils that go into diffusers.
All the Scentsy products have a lifetime guarantee and will be replaced if something goes wrong, Lewin said.
