Safely dispose of medications
(Oct. 22) Why is it important to turn in unwanted and expired prescription medications? They could be stolen or abused by another member of the family or visitors. If thrown away or flushed down a toilet, they pollute water and the environment.
The next National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is being held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24 for people to anonymously dispose of unwanted medications. To allow for the social distancing needed because of the COVID-19 pandemic, all locations will use drive-through or drop-off options.
Rates of prescription drug abuse in the United States are alarmingly high, as are the number of accidental poisonings and overdoses due to these drugs, according to the Drug Enforcement Administration, which hosts the semi-annual national event.
Sharps are not accepted at take back events. Vaping devices must have the batteries removed.

I’m comparing Deep Winter and Deep Summer before replacing a few worn wardrobe basics. Both sound plausible in descriptions, which makes online examples confusing. The boldest colors often dominate my features, but some muted colors make me look tired. I suspect the difference is more subtle than a single favorite shirt. I want to compare similar colors at different saturation levels. Could soft navy against clear black show anything helpful? I can do the comparison in daylight with no makeup and keep the camera in the same place if I take photos. I would pay attention to shadows and the area around my eyes. I came across deep winter color palette while collecting references, although I still need to judge colors against my own face. I don’t expect an online chart to decide my season by itself. What pair of fabrics would you try first? The next purchases are jackets and shirts, where color is easy to notice. Trying existing clothes would be easier than buying samples immediately. If you have compared these two palettes, I’d welcome specific examples and any mistakes that made your first impression unreliable.
Coaching
I am planning an online first meeting before a color appointment because the client cannot visit the salon until the day we perform an in-person strand test. I need notes that remain useful when we later compare real swatches. The obvious limitation is that every screen shifts the colors while the reference photographs she sent were taken under several kinds of indoor lighting. I would not treat a video frame as a precise color sample, but I would like the conversation to narrow down sensible shade families before the appointment. I am reviewing this online color analysis as a question guide rather than a substitute for physical swatches. Would matching one simple daylight setup improve the comparison, and is it worth comparing the same image on two devices during the call? I also plan to document old color, regrowth, and practical constraints. How would you keep this efficient while leaving the final choice for the salon?
I need new glasses and am deciding between warm tortoiseshell and dark blue frames. A seasonal quiz gave me an Autumn result, but I am unsure which frame looks better beside my face. The shop lighting is warm, and both options look different outside. Because these frames will be on my face daily, I want a choice that feels comfortable with ordinary clothes as well as with my skin tone. I have tried each frame with a cream top and a cool gray top, but that also changes the background against which I judge them. I am thinking of trying to take a short video in indirect daylight while keeping the camera exposure fixed. I could also ask a friend to look at the frames in person, since a phone image may exaggerate the warmth of the store lights. When I searched for ways to compare colors, I found a page about what is my color palette as a starting point, but I would like a method that works for this purchase, even if my season label remains uncertain. Would you judge the frame against bare skin first, or would you focus on how they balance the color of the eyebrows and eyes? I can visit again at a brighter hour. I would rather make one careful choice. Thanks for any specific tips. I can keep reference photos of both options.
I have an interview next week and already own the jacket and trousers I plan to wear. My remaining question is the shirt and a small scarf near my face. The muted option feels professional but photographs dull; the brighter scarf is more interesting, yet I worry it will draw too much attention. I found some examples of personal color analysis to give myself a better vocabulary for comparing the options. I am not trying to rebuild my wardrobe for this one occasion. When I check both combinations beside a window, should I focus on whether the face looks clearer, or whether the colors feel appropriately subdued? I can lay the accessories against the jacket before deciding. I realize the photos will not capture every detail. For people who have made a similar choice, what would be the most useful comparison to make before I pick one?
My next wardrobe purchase will probably be a used autumn jacket, but I am struggling to make a sensible shortlist. Measurements help with the fit, but seller photographs make it difficult to compare brown, olive, and dark blue reliably. Because returns are not always available, I want to reduce uncertainty before spending time on a visit or paying for delivery. The jacket needs to suit both jeans and charcoal trousers, since those are the pieces I actually use each week. I found a page about color analysis and would like to use the idea as a starting point for these comparisons. My concern is choosing a color for the photograph rather than for the ordinary combinations already available in my wardrobe. Is a daylight photo with a white object nearby helpful for comparing shades, or would you avoid relying on that? If I can view a jacket in person, I plan to bring one familiar top and compare them together. I would appreciate a short decision process for comparing jacket colors once condition, measurements, and price have passed the initial checks.
My next salon visit is approaching, and I would like to arrive with a sensible short list of shades. I recently started reading about color analysis because the tones I like in photos do not always look the same next to my face. Because my hair has been natural for years, I would rather make a modest first move. The result suggests a cooler palette, but I am treating that as a starting point rather than a rule. My natural hair is medium brown, and I want a change that is noticeable without committing to constant upkeep. I keep saving pictures of ash brown and soft dark blonde, then wondering how much the lighting changes them. I also know that a dye swatch can look different against skin, eyebrows, and the color already in the hair. Would you compare a few physical swatches near the face before choosing a formula? I can bring daylight photos and explain my maintenance budget. I would rather discuss the result as a clue than hand over a quiz result as an instruction. I can also ask about a strand test before committing to the whole head. If you have made a similar change, which small details helped you avoid a color that looked too flat or too harsh? I would especially appreciate examples that worked with a natural brown base.
I am returning to Madeira after a few years away and have noticed that many bookmarked travel guides still describe the island as I remember it. Before fixing an itinerary I want recent information, especially around access to walks, transport, and events in Funchal. I have started following madeira island news alongside official notices and recent visitor reports. A local update can point to something worth checking, but it rarely tells me whether a particular plan is affected on the day I travel. A road closure might matter greatly for one route and not at all for another. I would leave room for an alternative each day rather than building a schedule around a single viewpoint or hike. Would you begin with official trail and bus updates and then use local reports to understand the wider context? I would also like to know when to recheck, so I can make sensible reservations without treating every old recommendation as current. What sources have repeat visitors found useful without spending the whole holiday refreshing updates?
