Little League holds Opening Day 2018

Scripps Ranch Little League held its Opening Day activities for the 2018 season on Sunday, Feb. 25 at Jerabek Neighborhood Park.

Teams and managers were announced and paraded onto the field one by one.

The flag ceremony and National Anthem were held as each player removed their caps and stood reverently. After the Little League Pledge, players broke out in applause and began throwing their hats in the air.

Scripps Ranch Little League all-star teams from 2017 were recognized and league President Marcus Armstrong delivered brief opening remarks.

The San Diego Padres Pad Squad was on hand to keep the program moving along, and the Padres’ Friar mascot threw out the ceremonial first pitch.

Official team photos were taken earlier, and numerous activities for the kids were available including inflatables. The snack bar was open, and Rita’s Italian Ice was on hand to serve frozen treats.
