SeaWorld celebrates dolphin births
SeaWorld San Diego is celebrating the birth of two healthy male bottlenose dolphin calves, Jupiter and Phin. These new additions highlight the success of the park’s long-term dolphin program, which has supported multiple generations of dolphins thriving under the expert care of SeaWorld’s animal care team. Jupiter and Phin, alongside rescued calves Chance and Cardiff, make 2025 a truly special year for guests. Visitors can witness these young dolphins grow, reach key milestones, and learn from both their pod and SeaWorld’s dedicated animal care team, right before their eyes. Born in late 2024 and early 2025, Jupiter and Phin are flourishing under the watchful care of their first-time mothers, Corona and Coco. The calves are currently nursing, growing rapidly and displaying the early curiosity and social bonding behaviors that are key indicators of healthy development. Whether through multigenerational success in care or remarkable rescue and recovery, SeaWorld San Diego remains dedicated to the well-being of dolphins and the ecosystems they call home.

Shark Summer
Get ready to dive into a summer packed with fin-tastic fun at the Birch Aquarium. Shark Summer celebrates sharks’ vital role in our ecosystem while spotlighting the important conservation efforts and research dedicated to protecting these amazing creatures. SeaWorld Summer Spectacular Concert Series
SeaWorld Summer Spectacular Concert Series has captured widespread attention, and the momentum continues in the beautiful Bayside Amphitheater, running every Saturday night through Aug. 23. Before and after the concerts, guests can enjoy all the fun of Summer Spectacular, including educational animal presentations and exhibits as well as family-friendly and thrill coasters, plus all-new summer entertainment, including a vibrant summer parade, action-packed stunt shows, dazzling fireworks, the mesmerizing new Jewels of the Sea: The Jellyfish Experience and coasters after dark. There’s something for everyone to enjoy from day to night.

An Artful Life
Matthew C. Strauss (1933-2024) built a world-class collection of contemporary art, spanning four decades, together with his wife of 70 years, Iris Strauss. Matthew felt their bold collection made one look at art differently, by offering new perspectives on the world around us. On view through Aug. 3 at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, 700 Prospect St.

Sailor Days
The Maritime Museum of San Diego, a nonprofit institution dedicated to preserving and celebrating the region’s rich seafaring heritage, announces summertime Sailor Days for a limited time only every Tuesday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. through Aug. 27. Visitors to the Maritime Museum will enjoy boatloads of fun and best of all, the extra treats are included with general admission ticket purchase. Visitors will experience firsthand traditional sailor activities including furling sail, ropemaking, knot-tying, and hauling lines aboard Star of India, the world’s oldest active sailing ship. Guests can also take the challenge of a family-friendly scavenger hunt throughout the Maritime Museum collection to learn about the historical fleet in a new, exciting way, with children able to earn a special prize from the hidden treasure chest.

‘Noises Off’
“Noises Off” is a brilliant and uproarious backstage comedy that pulls back the curtain on a theatre company struggling to keep its production from falling apart. Forgotten lines, misplaced props and romantic entanglements lead to total chaos with doors slamming and sardines flying, in a whirlwind of slapstick hilarity. “Noises Off” is playing on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage at the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe’s Conrad Prebys Theatre Center in San Diego’s Balboa Park (1363 Old Globe Way). Performances run through Aug. 3.

‘The Prom: School Edition’
San Diego Junior Theatre closes out its 77th season with “The Prom: School Edition!” Running July 25-Aug. 3. This feel-good, high-energy musical celebrating self-expression and acceptance is brought full circle by a very special connection: “The Prom’s” original Broadway director and choreographer, Casey Nicholaw, is a celebrated Junior Theatre alumnus. Full of laughter, heart, and show-stopping numbers, “The Prom: School Edition” has been carefully adapted for young performers while preserving the joy and message of the original Broadway hit. The production will feature a talented cast of youth performers ages 12-18, with live orchestration, dynamic choreography and a vibrant set design that brings this powerful story to life for family audiences. Junior Theatre will provide an American Sign Language-interpreted performance on Saturday, Aug. 2 at 2pm.

‘The Comedy of Errors’
‘The Comedy of Errors,’ which concludes the Globe’s 2025 Shakespeare Festival, will play in the Lowell Davies Festival Theatre at The Old Globe in San Diego’s Balboa Park (1363 Old Globe Way). Performances for the four-week limited engagement run July 27-Aug. 24.
